You do not need to become a black belt before you can start teaching. Depending on your previous training, ability and commitment, you could reach the required technical standard in approximately four to eight months.

Once you achieve Adults Year 2, Level 1 and meet the remaining certification standards, you can qualify as a Certified Instructor and begin teaching the approved Kids program and Adults syllabus content up to your own achieved level.

As a Certified Unleash Instructor, you can bring official Kids and Adults programs to your community through your own independent classes, an existing school or another suitable venue. Every stage must be earned. That protects the quality of Unleash instruction and makes each new achievement something you can be genuinely proud of.

Stage 1 — Build Your Foundation

Begin as a student and immerse yourself in the Adults, Kids, Elite and Weapons content, instructor resources and online gradings. Build the ability, knowledge and confidence that every respected instructor needs.

At this stage, you are building the foundations for your instructor journey. You are not yet authorised to teach—but every training session takes you closer to that goal.

Stage 2 — Become a Certified Instructor

Achieve Adults Year 2, Level 1 and meet the required technical, teaching and professional standards. You then become eligible to earn Certified Instructor status and start teaching both the approved Kids program and Adults syllabus content up to the level you have achieved.

Adults Year 1 provides the essential Boxing and Muay Thai foundation, helping you to better understand and grasp the reality-based self-defence syllabus which begins in Year 2.

How quickly you complete the Year 1 foundation depends on your previous training, demonstrated ability and the time you dedicate to learning and practice. Candidates with relevant Boxing or Muay Thai experience may progress considerably sooner, while those starting without previous experience receive the structured training needed to build the required foundation. In every case, progression is based on meeting the required standard—not simply waiting for time to pass.

You do not need to complete the entire Adults syllabus or become a black belt before you can begin. Once certified, you can teach Adults syllabus content up to the level you have achieved while continuing to train, grade and expand what you can teach.

Once certified, you can use the Certified Unleash Instructor designation and be listed as an official instructor on the global Unleash website.

Stage 3 — Earn Level 1 Elite and Weapons Teaching Approval

Keep raising your own standard and progress through separate staged approvals to teach Elite and Weapons content. You can expand what you offer while giving your students exciting new goals to work towards. This also creates new income streams for your business.

To apply for Level 1 for either Elite or Weapons, you will need to have achieved Year 2, Level 3 of the Adults syllabus and successfully taught weekly classes for at least 12 months.

Achieving Level 1 approvals for both Elite and Weapons will also unlock Stage 4 for you, as this gives you the broader technical knowledge, confidence and professional credibility needed to represent Unleash successfully in front of schools, businesses and other organisations.

Stage 4 — Become an Authorised Unleash Workshop Provider

Experienced Certified Instructors can take their impact beyond weekly classes by applying for the specialist training and assessment required to deliver official Unleash workshops to schools, businesses and other approved organisations, thereby unlocking another valuable income opportunity.

These workshops are very different from weekly classes and must be delivered in a precise and professional manner. You will learn how to engage unfamiliar audiences, deliver an exceptional experience and create the professional confidence needed to encourage ongoing client relationships and repeat bookings.

To apply for this role, you must first have achieved Adults Year 2, Level 3, gained Level 1 teaching approval in both Elite and Weapons, successfully taught weekly classes for at least 12 months and met the remaining professional standards.

TWO WAYS TO BUILD WITH UNLEASH

How far do you want to take your ambition?

Certified Instructor

Available in the UK and internationally, the Certified Instructor pathway gives you the opportunity to turn your training into something bigger and teach Unleash through your own classes, an existing school or another suitable venue.

Receive the technical training, curriculum and instructor resources required to deliver the Unleash programs for which you are approved. Build your classes around your own goals and make your own decisions about venues, class times, local pricing, staffing and general business operations, subject to applicable law and the technical, safety and brand standards in your agreement.

Choose additional business-development and promotional services separately whenever you need them. They are not part of the core Certified Instructor pathway. As you gain experience, you can also work towards the Authorised Unleash Workshop Provider pathway.

UK Certified Instructors do not receive a protected territory, and approval of class locations is subject to existing protected UK Licensee territories.

UK Licensee

Are you based in the UK and looking for a more comprehensive opportunity? The UK Licensee pathway enables ambitious people to build through the complete Unleash business model under a comprehensive licence agreement, with the important benefit of a protected territory.

UK Licensees follow the defined operating system, brand standards, processes and support framework. This includes centrally managed school and business workshop opportunities and, subject to approval, the potential to grow into additional venues. It is designed for those who want greater support in establishing, developing and growing their Unleash operation.

Whichever route fits your ambition, you will earn your position as an individual instructor. Every person teaching Unleash must be individually certified and meet the personal licensing requirements that apply to them.

How quickly could you become ready to teach?

Sooner than you might think.

Every candidate begins with different experience, natural ability and available training time. There is therefore no artificial one-size-fits-all timetable. You progress by demonstrating the required technical ability, understanding, teaching competence and professional standards.

The more consistently you learn and train, the sooner you may be ready for assessment. Once you can meet the required standard, there is no unnecessary waiting.

THE AUTHORISED UNLEASH WORKSHOP PROVIDER PATHWAY

Ready to take Unleash beyond weekly classes?

For instructors ready to reach even more people, the Authorised Unleash Workshop Provider pathway creates an exciting new level of professional opportunity.

Imagine taking practical Unleash training into schools, businesses, community groups and other approved organisations. Experienced Certified Instructors can apply to do exactly that, using approved programs, presentations, resources and delivery methods.

This authorisation must be earned through experience, professional conduct, specialist training and assessment. It is not automatically included with Certified Instructor status—because representing Unleash at this level carries real responsibility.

Why must Workshop Providers achieve Level 1 in both Elite and Weapons?

Delivering weekly classes and representing Unleash in front of a school, business or professional organisation are very different responsibilities.

Workshop audiences can be unpredictable. You may be teaching complete beginners, experienced martial artists, security professionals or people who ask challenging technical questions. You may have only one opportunity to establish your credibility and demonstrate the quality of the Unleash system.

For this reason, every future Authorised Unleash Workshop Provider must first achieve Level 1 teaching approval in both Elite and Weapons.

Develop a deeper understanding

Elite and Weapons training takes your knowledge beyond the core Adults syllabus. It strengthens your understanding of the principles behind the system, improves your technical explanations and prepares you to answer a wider range of questions.

Present with greater confidence

Greater knowledge and technical ability affect how you carry yourself. You will be better prepared to demonstrate with conviction, communicate with unfamiliar groups and remain composed if an experienced attendee questions or challenges a technique.

Respond responsibly to weapons questions

Even a general self-defence workshop may generate questions about knives, sticks or other weapons. Level 1 Weapons approval gives you the knowledge to respond responsibly without guessing or teaching material you are not qualified to deliver.

Represent Unleash to the right standard

Workshop Providers represent Unleash in front of schools, businesses and other organisations. Requiring a strong technical foundation protects the quality of the workshop, the reputation of the instructor and the credibility of Unleash.

You will never be expected to know absolutely everything or improvise an answer you cannot support. Professionalism also means recognising the limits of your current knowledge and teaching approval.

Eligibility

Applicants must:

  • Be active Certified Instructors in good standing.
  • Have achieved Adults Year 2, Level 3.
  • Hold Level 1 teaching approval in both Elite and Weapons.
  • Have successfully taught live weekly classes for at least 12 months.
  • Demonstrate professionalism and commitment to the Unleash brand.
  • Be accepted by Unleash HQ.
  • Complete the official Workshop Provider Program and assessment successfully.

The further you progress, the greater your opportunities

Authorised Workshop Providers can deliver approved workshops that match their current technical teaching approvals.

As they progress through higher Elite and Weapons levels, further specialist workshop opportunities may become available.

How workshop opportunities operate

UK Licensees and UK Certified Instructors

In the UK, Unleash HQ markets and sells official workshops, manages enquiries and client relationships, and allocates suitable opportunities to appropriately approved UK Licensees and UK Certified Instructors.

This centrally managed model allows HQ to maintain oversight of quality and the customer experience while approved Workshop Providers focus on delivering outstanding training.

Authorised Workshop Providers outside the UK

Outside the UK, Authorised Workshop Providers develop opportunities within their own markets, set suitable local pricing and retain the income from the workshops they secure, subject to their agreement.

They may also receive suitable international referrals from Unleash HQ.

Adults Year 1 develops the essential Boxing and Muay Thai foundation before the core Unleash self-defence syllabus begins in Year 2. The technical milestone for becoming eligible to qualify as a Certified Instructor is Adults Year 2, Level 1—only the fourth progressive syllabus level out of the sixteen levels leading to Black Belt.

How quickly you reach this level will depend on your previous training, demonstrated ability and the time and commitment you dedicate to learning and practice. A committed candidate may be able to achieve the required standard within approximately four to eight months, although every person progresses differently and must demonstrate the required technical, teaching and professional standards before becoming certified.

Once certified, you can teach the approved Kids program and Adults syllabus content up to your own achieved level.

You can grade students up to one level below your current grade. As you continue training and achieve higher grades, the levels you can teach and grade also progress.

No separate Kids technical certification is required, although all safeguarding and background-check requirements must be met before teaching children.

Elite and Weapons classes require their own separate staged teaching approvals.

Unleash recruits instructor candidates internationally. The precise combination of online study, live coaching, regional training and in-person assessment depends on the approved pathway available in your location. Full requirements are explained before you enrol.

Certified Instructor status alone does not authorise official workshop delivery. UK Licensees and UK Certified Instructors operate within the centrally managed UK workshop model, but the person delivering the workshop must still hold the applicable individual technical and Workshop Provider approvals. Certified Instructors outside the UK can apply to become Authorised Unleash Workshop Providers after achieving Adults Year 2, Level 3, gaining Level 1 teaching approval in both Elite and Weapons, successfully teaching weekly classes for at least 12 months and meeting the remaining training, assessment and professional standards.

Workshop opportunities depend on the instructor’s current technical approvals. As an instructor progresses through higher Elite and Weapons levels, further specialist workshop opportunities may become available.

The Certified Instructor pathway is available in the UK and internationally. Certified Instructors are technically qualified and individually licensed to teach approved Unleash programs through their own independent classes, an existing school or another suitable venue. They control their own general business operations, while complying with the technical, teaching, safety and brand standards required to protect students and the Unleash programs. Optional business-development and promotional services can be chosen separately. UK Certified Instructors do not receive a protected territory, and approval of class locations is subject to existing protected UK Licensee territories.

A UK Licensee operates under a more comprehensive UK licence agreement containing defined operating systems, processes, brand standards, training and support, together with the important benefit of a protected territory.

Certification belongs to the individual instructor—not to the venue or school. Every person who teaches Unleash must earn their own certification and meet the applicable personal licensing requirements.
